Benefit of this resource and how to make the best use of it

This set of five checklists aim to support early career and seasoned lecturers to deliver engaging lectures and a positive learning experience to their students in higher education. They highlight best practice approaches to teaching and learning in higher education with an emphasis on module development/alignment, assessment for learning, environmental considerations, active learning strategies and the importance of reflection and feedback. This resource provides a central resource which supports staff development and promote consistency of approaches. The five checklists are:

Checklist 1: Provisional Checks
Checklist 2: Assessment for Learning
Checklist 3: Environmental Considerations
Checklist 4: Active Learner Strategies – Content Structure Delivery
Checklist 5: Closing/ Feedback/ Independent Learning.

Each checklists has a series of questions for lecturers to check their approach. Curated resources and supports are then provided to enable them to make any improvements or take actions to enhance their lecture.
