Coding theory is a major component of Applied Algebra. It has many applications in the mathematics of communications and has many links with other scientific disciplines, such as electrical engineering and computer science. Coding theory arises in almost every imaginable digital communications and storage system. In UCD, it is taught at the undergraduate level in the module MATH30180 An Introduction to Coding Theory.

ePrePP (Preparation for Professional Practice)
About this initiative
The ePrePP project was designed to enhance student learning in healthcare placements to ease the transition from student to professional. The project was led by a group representing medicine, nursing, pharmacy and pedagogy and has applications for not only healthcare disciplines but also the wider student body. A digital platform created though the project incorporates shared competencies, digital resources, and ePortfolios with the aim of enriching learning on clinical placement and nurturing inter-professional collaboration. The resources are accessed daily both nationally and internationally and the project also stimulated the development of a Professional Practice module for medicine in UCC.
