Coding theory is a major component of Applied Algebra. It has many applications in the mathematics of communications and has many links with other scientific disciplines, such as electrical engineering and computer science. Coding theory arises in almost every imaginable digital communications and storage system. In UCD, it is taught at the undergraduate level in the module MATH30180 An Introduction to Coding Theory.

Redefining Rigour: The Impact of Gen AI on Learning Activities
About this initiative
“1) Understand the Foundations of Gen AI in Education: Participants will gain a foundational understanding of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) and its role in educational settings, with a focus on the implications for learning activities. 2) Evaluate the Impact of Gen AI on Educational Rigour: Participants will critically assess how Gen AI technologies impact the rigour of learning activities, examining both potential enhancements and challenges within educational contexts. 3) Demonstrate Assessment Design Integrating Gen AI: Participants will observe an example demonstrating the design of assessments that integrate generative AI to promote rigour, providing insights into innovative assessment strategies.”
