Formative Assessments Co-created with Students (FACCtS)

Data Literacy and Analytics is a core transversal skill essential for thriving in today’s data-driven world. In recognition of this, the Data Literacy and Analytics for the 21st Century module (CSC1015) was designed and integrated across 15 DCU programs spanning five faculties. Each year, over 2,000 students enrol in this online, asynchronous module. Feedback from previous cohorts highlighted a need for more formative activities to enhance learning and engagement. The main objective of this project was to enrich students’ learning experiences through the inclusion of Formative Assessments Co-CreaTed with Students (FACCtS). After completing the module, selected students were invited to co-create these assessments, which were then integrated into the module. The FACCtS allow learners to evaluate their progress and adapt their learning strategies through highly interactive questions and immediate feedback.
