About this initiative

Two seminars were delivered as part of this initiative. The first one aimed to: 1. Identify the challenges faced by students when they engage with preparing a vlog. 2. Examine ways to support students in setting up a vlog and writing effective reflections on their learning and experience through vlogging. 3. Critically assess some ‘case study’ examples of international best practice associated with preparing a student vlog. 4. Reflect on how these successes and challenges might transfer to an Irish higher education context, and discuss ways to enhance student engagement through vlogging. The second one aimed to: 1. Demonstrate an understanding of the core concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI), in particular OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Playground, and associated implications for higher education. 2. Identify the ethical and academic integrity implications of using AI within the higher education context. 3. Discuss how AI may be used to enhance the learning experience. 4. Explore strategies for incorporating AI into the curriculum and using it effectively within the classroom.
