Coding theory is a major component of Applied Algebra. It has many applications in the mathematics of communications and has many links with other scientific disciplines, such as electrical engineering and computer science. Coding theory arises in almost every imaginable digital communications and storage system. In UCD, it is taught at the undergraduate level in the module MATH30180 An Introduction to Coding Theory.

Alignment and Development of an Online Programme for Graduate Teaching Assistants
About this initiative
Focusing on the professional development needs of graduate teaching assistants, the Alignment and Development of an Online Programme for Graduate Teaching Assistants project developed an online module for graduate teaching assistants that can be used by any institution as an independent 5-ECTS online professional qualification in teaching and learning for graduate teaching assistants or as five discrete areas of professional development, with accompanying workshop packages including templates and multimedia content. The course is currently available within the partner institutions and work is underway to make it available to graduate teaching assistants across Irish higher education.
