Science Literacy Competence Framework for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Curriculum

About this initiative

The project developed a Science Literacy Competence Framework to guide undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum and module design. The framework identified key concepts relating to the norms, values, and philosophy of science, supporting students to understand how scientific knowledge is produced, evaluated, and communicated. Designed in response to the spread of scientific misinformation and disinformation on social media, the resource helped educators embed critical evaluation skills and responsible engagement with scientific information into teaching. It aimed to strengthen students’ science literacy and contribute to greater public understanding of and trust in science.
