The newly formed UCD Library Green Group wanted to foster cross campus collaboration as they believed this would assist in realising their green goals. They saw the Learning Enhancement Project as a direct route to the student cohort who, motivated by their passion for the planet, would be willing to help the Library with this task.

About this initiative
Coordinated by School of Mechanical and Design Engineering Lecturer, Ceri Almrott, the project aims to enhance the material intelligence of design students, by providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to create alternative materials from waste streams. By repurposing waste materials like plastics and cellulose, the project will align with the Green-Campus themes of Litter & Waste and Energy, while contributing to University decarbonisation efforts in the design process.
