It has many applications in the mathematics of communications and has many links with other scientific disciplines, such as electrical engineering and computer science. Coding theory arises in almost every imaginable digital communications and storage system. In UCD, it is taught at the undergraduate level in the module MATH30180 An Introduction to Coding Theory.
SMARTAss Student Multi-mode Artefacts to Reach Potential in Assessment
About this initiative
Key Outcomes and Outputs 1. Enhanced Media/Digital Competency – Students will develop improved digital fluency skills and gain a better understanding of real-time authentic assessment. Teaching and learning efficacy. 2. Greater Student Engagement and critical thinking skills – The discussion into real time video creation as an assessment tool presented here is underpinned by professionals who spearhead the ‘video as assessment tool’ with their media and digital education students but believe video-based assessment could be used to great effect with other learners in other disciplines. This Autoethnographic approach is aligned to National and European Digital Education Policies2 and addresses some of the academic integrity challenges that the emergence of GenAI has erupted for governance of Tertiary Education
