This project aims to create a comprehensive set of resources designed to assist students in transitioning from second-level (secondary) mathematics to third-level (tertiary) mathematics. The primary focus of the project will be the production of a collection of short, engaging and informative videos that cover a wide array of fundamental mathematical concepts. These videos will serve as an essential learning aid, helping students to bridge the gap between the two levels of study by revisiting and reinforcing key mathematical ideas and techniques they may have encountered in their earlier education. The concept of developing such educational resources is not new; over two decades ago, the UK’s Mathtutor project attempted a similar initiative by producing a series of educational videos. However, these videos have since become outdated in both their presentation style and their technical format, making them less effective for today’s learners. The visual and interactive elements used in modern educational tools have advanced significantly since the original videos were created. Therefore, this new project intends to take advantage of current technologies to provide a more engaging and relevant learning experience. One key innovation that will be incorporated into this project is the use of Geogebra, a powerful, freely available tool for mathematical visualization. Geogebra allows for the dynamic creation of graphs, geometric constructions, and algebraic models, which can significantly enhance students’ understanding of abstract mathematical concepts. By integrating Geogebra into the videos, the project will provide students with an interactive and visual approach to learning, making complex ideas more accessible and easier to comprehend. In doing so, the project will offer an up-to-date, interactive, and more effective means of supporting students as they transition to higher-level mathematics.
