The newly formed UCD Library Green Group wanted to foster cross campus collaboration as they believed this would assist in realising their green goals. They saw the Learning Enhancement Project as a direct route to the student cohort who, motivated by their passion for the planet, would be willing to help the Library with this task.
About this initiative
Coordinated by School of Mechanical and Design Engineering lecturer Gerard Ryder, together with Campus & Estates Senior Staff Officer John Heaney, the project will refresh a central space at the Tallaght campus to provide an essential relaxing area that can be enjoyed by campus users. New developments to the area will include an accessible path, benches, raised beds and planting, and nesting boxes and feeders for avifauna – each designed to make impact for Health and Wellbeing, Education, Life on land, Life under water and Partnerships for the Sustainable Development Goals.
