Coding theory is a major component of Applied Algebra. It has many applications in the mathematics of communications and has many links with other scientific disciplines, such as electrical engineering and computer science. Coding theory arises in almost every imaginable digital communications and storage system. In UCD, it is taught at the undergraduate level in the module MATH30180 An Introduction to Coding Theory.

DOERs (Developing Open Educational Resources) in SoTL
About this initiative
DOERs (Developing Open Educational Resources) in SoTL is an example of another collaborative project under this digital transformation theme. The project, which is being coordinated between SETU, TUS, DkIT and MU. This project aims to raise awareness of Open Educational Resources (OER) and OER Pedagogy (OEP) and design, facilitate and share copyright, Open Licensing and OER training and resources, thereby encouraging collaboration amongst staff and staff/students while developing/re-using OER. This will also support the dissemination of SATLE outputs as OER material and is an example of a capstone project in the area.
