Coding theory is a major component of Applied Algebra. It has many applications in the mathematics of communications and has many links with other scientific disciplines, such as electrical engineering and computer science. Coding theory arises in almost every imaginable digital communications and storage system. In UCD, it is taught at the undergraduate level in the module MATH30180 An Introduction to Coding Theory.
Initiative
Advancing Biomedical Engineering Education through the Integration of Virtual Labs.
About this initiative
Virtual laboratories provide greater flexibility for learners while removing costs, resource/space/infrastructure requirements, safety concerns and other challenges associated with accessing clinical/surgical environments and physical laboratories. In line with DCU’s commitment to innovative and digital transformation in teaching, this project will develop two virtual labs relating to surgical device simulation and materials testing, for implementation within DCU’s Biomedical Engineering programmes.
