Coding theory is a major component of Applied Algebra. It has many applications in the mathematics of communications and has many links with other scientific disciplines, such as electrical engineering and computer science. Coding theory arises in almost every imaginable digital communications and storage system. In UCD, it is taught at the undergraduate level in the module MATH30180 An Introduction to Coding Theory.

Teaching Resources for Instrumentation and Control Students (TRICS)
About this initiative
A significant lack of awareness relating to careers and fundamental concepts associated with instrumentation and control strategies, which ultimately affects student recruitment, progression and retention was identified in the Physical Sciences Sector. Instrumentation engineers have been identified as one of the hardest jobs to fill and this project addressed the issue by developing a suite of OERs to assist students in their learning and understanding of associated concepts and skills.
