GRAD (Graduate Resource and Development)

SETU is committed to supporting digital transformation and in so doing to harness digital technologies to create a more effective, inclusive, and innovative learning environment for all students. As outlined in its Strategic Plan, it calls out the need to support managed and sustainable digitization in developing new technologies. Equally, it highlights the need to embrace technological change and reform practices in terms of curriculum design. In that regard, SETU aims to optimize the utilization of existing infrastructure and develop new physical and digital infrastructure and to support inclusive and equitable access to a quality learning environment. One way in which this has been achieved is through the development of the Higher Education Learner Programme (HELP), which is an online, university-wide, transition to higher education programme that has been entirely funded through SATLE. As there is a specific focus on increasing the number of level 10 students over the next five years, as highlighted in the SETU Strategic Plan, consideration is being given to how best to ensure that students are supported as they transition to postgraduate studies. With this in mind, SATLE funding is being used to develop and deliver an online programme called GRAD (Graduate Resource and Development), specifically catered to the 10 requirements of postgraduate students, which will include valuable insights into academic, practical, and personal skill development at postgraduate level. This will act as wraparound support in conjunction with the existing support offerings.
