Coding theory is a major component of Applied Algebra. It has many applications in the mathematics of communications and has many links with other scientific disciplines, such as electrical engineering and computer science. Coding theory arises in almost every imaginable digital communications and storage system. In UCD, it is taught at the undergraduate level in the module MATH30180 An Introduction to Coding Theory.
Initiative
Enhanced student engagement with innovative product visualisation technology through the creation of a virtual exhibition
About this initiative
This project will utilise emerging software and technology in product visualisation to showcase student work in a virtual exhibition. The exhibition will be co-designed by the students utilising open-source software and consumer-level VR hardware. The co-design sessions will take place in a VR collaborative space and will be supported by the project lead as a virtual analogy to the physical studio. It provides opportunities for collaboration and peer learning as students will work together to design and build the exhibition using sustainable design principles and technologies.
