TAILS-Technology-Assisted Interdisciplinary Learning and Simulation: Advancing Post Graduate Healthcare Education

The project co-designed and evaluated a technology-enhanced interdisciplinary learning and simulation intervention for postgraduate education in cardiovascular healthcare. The intervention combined an interactive online resource exploring the roles of three healthcare disciplines with a three-part simulated clinical scenario involving a standardised patient. A qualitative study captured the perspectives of students, facilitators, and standardised participants, while a workshop shared the findings with the wider university community. The project also produced a scalable intervention template that could be adapted for other multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Through realistic team-based learning, students strengthened their interpersonal, reflective, and collaborative skills while developing greater trust in and understanding of the contributions made by different healthcare professions.
