Promoting a Culture of Academic Integrity in Online Assessment through the Development of Instructional Tools: Perspectives from a Multidisciplinary School

The project promoted a positive culture of academic integrity in online assessment by partnering with students to develop instructional tools that could be embedded within individual modules. Interviews, focus groups, and surveys explored how students and faculty understood academic integrity and dishonest behaviour in online environments. These findings informed student workshops to co-design reusable learning tools, including guidance checklists, short explanatory videos, and a mandatory pre-submission checklist. The tools were implemented and evaluated through baseline and exit surveys to identify changes in participants’ perceptions of academic integrity. Key outputs included the reusable resources, a validated survey instrument, and an evaluation report comparing findings before and after implementation.
